Weekend Fun

Last weekend we went to Bryan's parents house (which is typical...we're there about once a month for one reason or another) and we had a great time! Bryan's brother Joe is in town from the Navy, and it was my nephew Brody's birthday. We had a yummy lunch, the kids played, and Brody opened his presents. Then we all went outside for a group picture...quite a large group!

After our photo session, we gathered everyone for a game of baseball. That was really entertaining! I'm barely pregnant (9 weeks today), but it was still uncomfortable to try to run the bases! And the little ones kept loosing interest and leaving the game, then getting mad because they missed their turn! We finished playing (nobody keeps score) and then all the kids went to swing while the adults played washers. It was a great, fun day!

Sit and Be Fit

Today I figured out what happens when I don't pay attention to what the kids are watching on tv. In the morning, there are cartoons on PBS, but at about 12:00, there are other shows that come on. Today the kids were watching Dragon Tales, so I went to take a shower. When I came back out, this is what I saw:
This is what was on the TV...Sit and Be Fit.
And this is what my children were doing.
Again, what was on the tv...And what my children were doing.
So, I know my kids like tv, but this is ridiculous. They were really into it!! They were mad when I turned it off because we had to leave. I guess my kids are just fitness buffs!

Hooray for Zofran!!

This pregnancy is much more interesting so far than my others. For example, during my last pregnancy, I had a 5 year old and an infant, and Caleb was thankfully still taking 2 naps every day...so that meant I got 2 naps every day! And Devin was so good, "Mommy, you look tired...I can go watch a movie if you want to take a nap...I don't mind!" What a dear son, always thinking of others :-)

So, with this one, I now have a 3 1/2 year old, a 4 1/2 year old, and a 10 year old. Know what that equals?? No more naps for Mommy!! See, the 3 1/2 year old has completely outgrown naps (except if we are going somewhere, and then she instantly passes out in her carseat...and I can't so much sleep then), and the 4 1/2 year old will watch movies, but if I'm not looking then there's a good chance he's getting into something he shouldn't. And the 10 year old is big enough to not get into stuff, but not quite old enough to be left in charge of the little ones with no conscious adults nearby.

And who said kids should be spaced evenly apart?? They ought to be shot! Just kidding...I know this will be a better spacing when the baby actually gets here, but for now it's not serving me well.

On another note, the anti-nauseau pill that I just got is the bomb! It's called Zofran, and apparently it is the pill that they give chemo patients to help them, so it's bound to work, right? It's certainly better than nothing, and it seems to at least make me think I'm not nauseous anymore :-)
I also forgot to mention that my oldest got to go to the Texans football game with Pop on Sunday. They apparently had a blast since my dad had sideline tickets and they got to go down on the field and meet the players and cheerleaders (Devin's favorite part, of course). Here are some pictures of their fun times at the game.

Kissing a hermit crab...don't try this at home.

My adventurous 4 year old decided today to try to kiss his hermit crab. Well, the crab decided he didn't like that, and pinched my baby's lip as hard as he could. It didn't break the skin, but it made Caleb scream and shake until I got it off. After a popsicle and a warm washcloth he was feeling much better, but it scared him enough to NEVER try it again. I took some pictures, but they don't really show the wound as well as in person. And I didn't get a picture while it was on because I'm his mom and I wanted it off him as quickly as possible. Just imagine a little 4 year old with a hermit crab hanging off his lip...pretty scary.

Pregnancy symptoms...back with a vengeance

Okay, so last week I was feeling really well...I wasn't nauseous, just a little tired. So, I'm thinking, "Wow, I've really lucked out!". Then this week came....ohmygosh. I am now naseated most of the day, every day, and although I haven't yet thrown up, I just know it's coming. I just feel like I can't get full, and whenever my stomach is empty it makes me feel sick. How crazy is that?

So, my working schedule is pretty un-flexible, so I guess I'll just have to live through it. I don't have a sub, and I don't think that would go over very well with the boss, since she was against another baby in the first place :-) Sorry Mom (yes, I work for my parents).

Okay, so I'm off to bed...

6 week Ultrasound

Well, I went back to the doctor today for a re-check, since my first appointment was so early that the dr. couldn't see anything on ultrasound (which, by the way, made me a bit nervous given that I miscarried twice before Caleb). So, I went back today and we have a heartbeat! Yeah!! It's the little things in life that make me happy... He says everything looks good, and we even got a picture. You can't see a thing, because the baby is as small as a speck right now, but it's fun to have a first picture nonetheless. Sorry for the picture of a picture, but my scanner doesn't like me and I am too tired to fight it.

And Caleb was dissapointed, but it's just one baby. He was really hoping and praying for twins, so we would have one for him and one for Bekah, but not-so-much.

Everyone take care and leave me a comment to let me know that someone (other than me) is reading this!

Back at it again!

Okay, so it's been almost a year since I posted on here, and I've only posted once. Bad blogger...bad blogger. Okay, I've reprimanded myself, now onto what's new.

We just found out that we're expecting number 4! It was the first month that we had decided to try, so we are really shocked that it happened so quickly. I am super excited, because I've wanted this since my youngest was year old. Bryan is excited too, but in a less obvious kind of way. The little kids are excited, and showing it in some really cute ways. Bekah and Caleb have both been dragging baby dolls everywhere since we told them. It is really funny to see them both packing diaper bags and pushing strollers all over the grocery store. They are SO my children! Devin, on the other hand, knows what's coming. He has been through this twice before. He knows that babies cry, they poop, they wake you up at night, and (worst of all) they take mom and dad's attention. But he's coming around...and I think he's excited in his own way (he's definitely more like his dad). Of course, Caleb told me tonight that he's praying for twins...

So, I'm back to blogging, and I promise to do better this time...you know, more than 1 post a year :-) I have so much fun reading other peoples' blogs (Rachael, Emily, etc.) and I get so excited when they have new posts, so I want to return the favor!

For this one, here is a recent picture from my cousin's wedding last weekend. The first one is our whole family (obviously), and the second is Caleb and Bekah dancing together. It was the sweetest thing. They know that girls and boys dance together, so I showed them how to put their hands, and they INSISTED that they had to dance at the wedding. It took a while to get to that part of the evening, but they were very patient and they were so excited when they got their chance. It was adorable.
